Soft as a babies bottom

I have struggled constantly for many years with my skin. Acne and more so, blemishes. I have very dry yet oily skin which I find quite difficult to find skin care which suits this combination.

I'm always looking for skin care products which work for my skin which has been a hard task. I have made it harder for myself as I've never really wanted to put much effort in to my routine. Now I'm in my twenties I realise how important a good skin care routine is and also how important it is to put more effort in.

A while back I made a promise to my self that no matter how tired I am after work or regardless how I'd much prefer to do anything else I will always avoid using baby wipes to remove my make up. Baby wipes were always my go to as they was by far the quickest option. This way I could take my make up off in bed checking twitter or catching up on You Tube, best of both worlds! I always knew this wasn't the smartest choice but yet I carried on.

Just by simply changing from make up wipes to a skin care routine has improved my skin incredible amounts.

I now avoid make up wipes completely and have introduced a 3 step skincare routine. I've opted for something which isn't too time consuming. Simply by using a toner, cleanser and moisturiser. Each of these are for my skin type and applied with a cotton wool pad as I try to avoid touching my face with the amount of bacteria your hands carry.

Since changing to this routine I haven't had any trouble with spots and even though I still have blemishes, it has noticeably calmed the blemishes which is more than I expected. My skin feels a million times better and make up application is a lot smoother too which is a huge bonus.

My favourite products are mostly drug store. I cannot notice much difference between luxury and drug store skin care products other than the price. My toner is the Body Shop. Cleanser is Nivea and moisturiser is Neutrogena.

Just to add, we all still know that no matter what skin care routine you choose the key to clear skin is drinking plenty of water!

All About the Brows

I think it is only right that I write a post all about brows.

I constantly find myself admiring other peoples eyebrows as this is my ultimate favourite part of any make up look and as important as the flawless foundation goes as well as the perfected eye liner, I do always think the eyebrows always make or break any look.

I love how many products there are dedicated to brows. The powders, gels, pencils, pens, it goes on! Personally, I enjoy using each different type of products however, my go to is always the powder. It's the easiest to build the colour up and easy enough to get the right shape, I always use a slanted brush to apply the powder (the brush I use is the ecotools slanted eye liner brush - my fave!)

Highlighting the brow also gives the ultimate push to any look and always makes them stand out so much more. I just wish there was more good quality highlighting brow products. I'm yet to find one I fall in love with, the nicest I can find is would be the Benefit High Brow.

My all time favourite place to get my brows sorted is by far the Benefit Brow Bar. I haven't had a bad experience there! I always book in for a wax and a tint, the shape is perfect all the time and I always have a medium tint which is a match every time. They are more on the pricey side but definitely worth it! I've struggled with my eyebrows for a very long time with the growth, they annoyingly refuse to grow downwards and will only grow upwards, luckily I have quite light eye brows so it's not too noticeable - I just have to make sure I don't stand too close to anyone when growing them out! I think everyone has a hate for their eyebrows whether it be a big or small hatred or just a slight dislike for least left brow which never looks the same, they could be ways to maintain them more easily or to make it quicker when getting ready in the morning when you realise your alarm didn't go off. I do believe it is the most important look but also the most time consuming when putting effort in! Perfected eyebrows and a statement lip is my absolute fave!

Whether you like the big bold look or the more shaped natural look you have to admit brows are slowly dominating the beauty world!

Current Beauty Favourites

I always find it quite hard to find beauty products which I can fall in love with. Now that it is getting colder I find it even harder to find nice products which suit the time of year.

Currently NYX is my go to brand. I adore the 'stay matte but not flat' foundation especially paired with the HD concealer. The HD studio primer is the second primer from this brand which I've tried which both of them meet expectations for a good primer. I usually use a green primer to correct my blemishes. I got the white primer in this range, though I'm not sure I'd purchase it again in white.
I also purchased a lipstick from NYX which I am loving at the moment. It is in the shade 'sable' which is a very nude shade and it is also matte. I feel that it just adds that pop to any make up look.

A dark berry tone lipstick is my go to lip colour this time of year. The best that I have found for colour and wear also is the Revlon black cherry (number 477) It is a lot darker than your average berry tone but it looks amazing. I also wear this with the Revlon colour stay lip liner in the colour plum. It's a perfect match.

For skincare I swear by the Bodyshop bouncy sleeping mask. The texture of this is so strange but it works wonders. After using this in the morning my skin feels incredibly soft and minimises any dry skin which is always a struggle in the cold weather. I always use this which the Benefit eye potent cream.
